Privacy Policy
At My Bright Mind, we are deeply committed to protecting the privacy of students, educators, parents, and all users of our platform. We understand that trust is essential, especially when working with K–12 schools and student data. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, process, and protect your data when you interact with our adaptive learning platform, services, and website. By using My Bright Mind's services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy and consent to our data practices as described herein.
When a school or district establishes an account with My Bright Mind, we collect information necessary to deliver our services, such as administrator names, email addresses, school or district details, and billing information. For student accounts provisioned by schools, we collect only the information provided by the school through rostering systems, which may include student names, grade levels, and class assignments. As students use our adaptive practice tools, AI tutor, and content library, we collect data about their learning interactions, progress, and mastery levels. This information is used solely to personalize the learning experience and provide educators with actionable insights. We also automatically collect technical data such as IP addresses, browser type, and device information to ensure platform security and optimize performance.
We use your personal data primarily to deliver our core services, including adaptive practice in math and ELA, our conversational AI tutor, content library, teacher and administrator dashboards, and multilingual learning experiences. For educators and administrators, your information enables us to provide mastery reports, usage analytics, and tools for managing rosters and assignments. We may also use your information to communicate service updates, security notices, and billing matters. We analyze usage patterns and learning outcomes in aggregate to improve our platform and develop new features, always in accordance with applicable student privacy laws.
My Bright Mind is designed to comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and applicable state student privacy laws. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption at rest and in transit, regular security audits, and strict access controls to protect all user information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. We are pursuing SOC 2 Type II certification to demonstrate our commitment to the highest standards of data security. In the unlikely event of a data breach, we commit to notifying affected schools, users, and relevant authorities promptly as required by applicable laws.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, including student data, to third parties for any purpose. We do not use student data for advertising or marketing. We may share data only with trusted service providers who assist us in delivering our services, such as cloud infrastructure providers and payment processors, all of whom are bound by strict confidentiality and data protection agreements. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users. When sharing data with third parties, we ensure they maintain adequate security measures and use information only for the specified purposes.
Schools and districts maintain control over the student data they provide to My Bright Mind. Authorized school administrators can access, update, export, or request deletion of student data at any time. Parents and eligible students may exercise their rights under FERPA by contacting their school, which can then coordinate with us to fulfill such requests. For educator and administrator accounts, you can access and update your information through your My Bright Mind dashboard. We respond to all data requests within the timeframes required by applicable privacy laws.
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, services, or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we will notify schools and users via email or through prominent notices on our platform before the changes take effect. We encourage you to review this policy regularly to stay informed about how we protect your privacy. Your continued use of My Bright Mind's services after policy updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us at privacy@mybrightmind.com.
